Good morning and welcome to the Freedom New Mexico Wenesday briefing.
Money for ‘Smoke’
Smoke on the water, Clovis’ annual Fourth of July fireworks display, is in desperate need of donations if it is going to happen this year.
The Clovis/Curry Chamber says it’s received $11,350 thus far — less than half what is needed to make the show reality.
Donations may be sent to: Smoke on the Water, Inc. 105 E. Grand, Clovis, New Mexico 88101 or you can call the chamber at (575) 763-3435 and pay with credit card.
For more information, contact Lauren at the Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce at (575) 763-3435.

Quirky quote of the day
“Yes, time flies. And where did it leave you? Old too soon…smart too late.” — Mike Tyson
Today in history
On this day in 1986, driving legend Richard Petty makes the 1,000th start of his National Association for Stock Car Racing (NASCAR) career, in the Miller American 400 in Brooklyn, Michigan.
He became the first driver in NASCAR history to log 1,000 career starts.
